En canoë C1 slalom, Nicolas Gestin, originaire de Quimperlé, remporte la médaille d'or. A 24 ans, il succède à Tony Estanguet, champion olympique en 2000, 2004 et 2012 dans le palmarès olympique.

Il a survolé la finale ! Nicolas Gestin est devenu, ce lundi, le troisième champion olympique français en Canoë Slalom, après Tony Estanguet et Denis Gargaud Chanut. A 24 ans, le Français a dominé la course, avec 5 secondes d'avance sur le Britannique Adam Burgess.
Médaillé mondial l'an dernier, il avait déjà survolé les qualifications en fin de matinée avec plus de trois secondes d'avance sur son dauphin.
